Byrne Dental is a trusted, full-service dentist in Rapid City offering a wide range of dental treatments, including dental exams, root canals, tooth extractions, fillings, and more. Our practice was established in 1993 by Dr. James Byrne.
As a leading family dentist in Rapid City, we have developed a reputation for gentle, caring dentistry. Our doctor and team members are proud to serve patients of every age, and always welcome new members into our practice. We believe in building one-on-one, personal relationships with each patient.

About Dr. James Byrne
James Byrne is a native of Spring Valley, Minnesota, the oldest of five children. He attended St. John’s University on a National Merit Scholarship, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Natural Science before attending the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry, where he was the president of Psi Omega Dental Fraternity in his senior year. After graduation in 1984, Dr. Byrne took his first position at the Indian Health Service Hospital in Pine Ridge. He moved to Rapid City in 1987, working with another dentist before starting his solo practice in 1993.

About Donna Pinkerton
Donna Pinkerton is a dedicated Dental Assistant with a rich background rooted in both her profession and community service. Born and raised in Boston, MA, Donna’s journey took an exciting turn when she spent four years in Rapid City, SD, due to her association with the Air Force. She eventually moved back to Boston, where she completed her dental assisting education. Donna’s heart led her back to Rapid City, where she raised her two sons, Michael and Drew. Now a proud grandmother of three, Donna continues to weave family values into every aspect of her life. Alongside her husband, Donna volunteers with the NAJA Shriners, reflecting her commitment to giving back to the community. Her leisure activities include reading, enjoying sports, watching TikTok videos, and taking scenic drives through the picturesque hills. She cherishes time spent with her husband Don, their family, and friends, finding joy and fulfillment in these cherished moments. Donna’s life is a beautiful blend of professional dedication, community service, and family love, making her a respected and beloved figure in both her personal and professional circles.

About Denise Sullivan, RDH
Denise is a dedicated and experienced Registered Dental Hygienist with over four decades of expertise in the field. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene in 1981 and has since been committed to providing exceptional oral health care to her patients. Beyond her professional career, Denise is deeply involved in her community. Alongside her husband, David, she raised, three children in the scenic Black Hills. Denise and David have a passion for mentoring young people and have made a significant impact through volunteering at their churches teen center and coaching the Teen Bible Quiz team, guiding teens in their spiritual and intellectual growth. In her leisure time, Denise enjoys reading, quilting, and crafting. She’s an avid fan of Korean dramas, often spending her evenings immersed in captivating storylines. Denise is also a proud owner of an 80 plus pound golden doodle named Ozro, who brings joy and companionship to her life. Denise’s blend of professional dedication and community involvement makes her a respected and beloved figure both in her field and her community.

About Natana Potter
Natana Potter, hailing from the picturesque Black Hills area, has spent her life immersed in the vibrant world of gospel music. Growing up, she traveled extensively across the United States with her family, bringing the uplifting power of gospel to audiences everywhere. This deep-rooted passion for music and family continues to this day, as Natana still performs alongside her loved ones, sharing their harmonious gifts with the world. Beyond her musical endeavors, Natana is a devoted mother to two beautiful daughters, Paris and Sydney, and a proud grandmother to Klover Doll and Lyvian. Her family is the cornerstone of her life, inspiring her to spread love and joy in every aspect of her daily interactions. Adding to the joy in her life is her beloved French bulldog, Drako, affectionately know as Bup Bup. Bup Bup’s playful and loving nature brings daily laughs and happiness to Natana’s home. In her professional life, Natana brings the same warmth and dedication to her role at Byrne Dental. Known for her genuine love for people and her ability to make others feel valued, she strives to create a welcoming and positive environment for both colleagues and patients alike. Her commitment to making a difference is a testament to her character and the values she holds dear.
